Toddler Programs


Little Chefs with Allergic to Salad

Day:  Monday

Time:  9:45-10:30
Cost:  $300 for 12 weeks

Island Kids is excited to introduce Allergic to Salad to Roosevelt Island.   Allergic to Salad introduces children to fun, hands-on, from-scratch STEM-based culinary classes. Together we'll hone our culinary skills by learning how to use a variety of tools (knife, grater, peeler, etc), discuss kitchen and food safety, explore new and exciting foods, cultures, recipes and come together to expand our tastes by enjoying unique dishes.  Our classes create a platform for a lifetime of adventurous eating and purposeful life-skills.


Toddler Tumble Bugs

Day:  Tuesday OR Saturday

Time: 10:30 – 11:15

Cost:  $220 for 11 weeks

Ages: 2-4

Dates:  Tuesday Class:  September 26 – December 19:  No class November 7 or 21

            Saturday Class:  September 30 – December 16:  No class November 25


Toddler tumbling is an energetic class aimed at developing confidence, coordination, and body awareness as your child learns to climb, run, jump and roll. Each class is full of fun learning activities that focus on colors, shapes, body parts, and social interactions such as taking turns. This class introduces new physical concepts such as safe somersaults, rolling, balance, stretching, jumping and strength training.  Amy Combs has been a professional teacher for eight years, working with toddlers and children from walking age to teen.  She trained professionally in England at both the Royal Ballet school and Elmhurst School of Performing Arts. There she established an understanding of how to teach and perform in the Arts, including dance and tumbling skills and she qualified to teach with the RAD (Royal Academy of Dance in London).  Since moving to the US, Amy has continued to teach in these areas. Her previous schools Include Pamela School for Dance, and Creative Arts in Las Vegas where she taught dance and tumbling.


The Nature Company:  Animal Education Program

Day:  Wednesday

Time: 10:00 – 10:45

Cost:  $160 for 8 weeks

Ages: 2-4

Dates:  September 27-November 15

The Nature Company provides an age appropriate animal education program by bringing live animals into the classroom.   In addition, children will stay engaged by singing and dancing to the alphabet song.  A puppet show is also included!



Triangles, Circles and Squares, Oh My! with Private Picasso

Day:  Thursday

Time:  10:00-10:45

Cost:  $300 for 12 weeks

Ages 2-4

Dates:  September 28-December 21:  No class November 23


Young artists will explore shapes, color and strengthen their fine motor skills through a variety of 2-3 dimensional art materials. By focusing on a specific color or theme each session, children will build their skills with drawing, collage, painting and small-scale sculpture.


Toddler Open Play

Day:  Friday

Time: 10:30 – 11:30

Cost:  $5 drop in fee

Ages 18 months-4 years

Dates:  September 29 – December 22

Toddler Time is a once a week open playgroup for children aged 14 months through 2.5 years.  Toddler Open Play provides an opportunity for parents and toddlers to socialize while engaging in age appropriate playtime.   Activities include slides, trampoline, tunnels. sand and water tables, blocks, dramatic play and more!

 

School Aged Programs:  K thought 5th grade


Mad Science:  Chemicals, Crimes and Codes

Day:   Tuesday

Time: Grades K/1/2:  3:30-4:30    

            Grades 3/4/5:  4:45-5:45

Cost:  $300 for 10 weeks

Dates:  September 27- December 5th:  No Class November 7th


Come and spark imaginative learning with some Mad chemistry. Watch as we combine elements and make them fizz, crackle and change color! We’ll delve into molecules and chemical reactions   that produce light, gas and even slime. For the 2nd part of the semester you will step into the shoes of a detective and uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis.  Some of the weekly topics in this session include : Lab Works, Junior Reactors, p.H. Phactor, Slime Time, The Glow Show, Dry Ice Capades, Icky Sticky Stuff, Chemistry Corner, The Mystery of Chem, Kitchen Chemistry, Crime Lab, Cracking the Case, The Science of Security & Agent Undercover

The Chess NYC philosophy is to emphasize the sport and fun of Chess...Providing engaging, accelerated instruction followed by supervised, spirited play, each student associates Chess with fun, and therefore larger numbers of them ultimately excel or at least become proficient in the great, significant, game of Chess.

Beat Explorers includes elements  such as lyricism and creative writing, with an emphasis on music production, beat making, and career development. The Beat Explorers program engages students in all aspects of what it means to be a Music Producer: devotion, professionalism, hard work, creativity, and a fundamental knowledge of both production hardware and the latest technology. While a Beat Rhymers class tends to culminate in a final performance, Beat Explorers students focus on writing and recording professional-quality songs with original beats, lyrics, and music.
